Adapt outdated processes as your business evolves.
Being a small business owner or entrepreneur, you may have many procedures and processes in place.
You may also have external marketing processes, like your website and LinkedIn profile.
It is easy to look at them over time without really seeing them. It may become a problem as your business expands.
With this in mind, here are three ways I monitor my work.
1. Question Past Decisions.
Our decisions from years ago may no longer be relevant today.
In some cases, better software solutions have been developed, or more straightforward, less costly solutions are available.
2. Pay Close Attention To The Parts Of Your Business That Are Right In Front Of You.
Do a scan of parts of your business you may take for granted.
If you have a presentation coming up that you have done numerous times, please take a look at it again.
Make sure all the links and buttons work on your website.
3. Know That The Buck Stops With You.
I’ve heard from clients, “I don’t know how that works; so and so set it up for me.” That’s OK.
I would not expect you to be knowledgeable of how the system works or make modifications to it.
If you are outsourcing, you need to know what to expect.
Document it so you can review it later.
When running a business, it’s easy to fall into a routine.
There’s nothing wrong with that.
Make sure your eyes remain open.
